In view of the harm caused by the surface defects of high carbon steel wire rods, the surface defects of high carbon steel wire rods were systematically analyzed by means of surface pickling, metallographic analysis and scanning electron microscopy, the types of defects were determined, the causes of defects were analyzed, and the improvement measures were put forward. After the implementation of these measures, the surface defects of high carbon steel wire rods were basically eliminated. Surface quality defects. The conclusions are as follows:
1. The surface defects found in high carbon steel wire rods are mainly related to rolling folding and hot scratch. The main measures are to adjust the gap between the rolls of the middle rolling mill and the reducing sizing mill RSM, to repair the defects in the water-cooled box, pinch roller, spinning machine and other parts in time, and to replace the guide when the damage occurs.
2. The residual elements in blast furnace molten iron and scrap steel will lead to the enrichment of copper in steel. It is necessary to control the content of residual elements so as to ensure that the copper content in steel is controlled below 0.10% and to reduce the content of tin and sulfur as much as possible.
3. The abrasion during storage and transportation will cause the surface of the wire rod to cool rapidly after heating up, resulting in the formation of a hardened layer similar to the quenching structure on the surface, eventually resulting in surface cracks on the finished product. Through the simple packing of the finished wire rod, the mechanical damage can be reduced.
